Current research:
My current research interests center on issues of music and altered states of consciousness, migration and urbanization, and Orientalism. My most recent research involves the musical practices among Moroccans from the Jbala region of Northwest Morocco.
Past research:
For my senior thesis, I completed an ethnographic study of Saint John Coltrane's African Orthodox Church, examining its historical and contemporary musical-relgious practices.
My Master's paper explores the role of music and dance in forming conceptions of Filipino/a American identity among former participants of the college PCN (Pilipino Cultural Night) phenomena in Los Angeles, California.
